The TSGS Editor
of our quarterly journal The Tri-State Packet
sent out an email yesterday to remind officers & regular contributors of the July 15th. deadline to submit material for the September issue. Send anything you think might be of general use by some of our members. Recently the amount of material being sent in has been a little less than in the past... so now is a good time to submit something with a better chance that it will get into this or the next issue. Send what you have addressed to Tri-State Packet Editor: "Brenda Legate" blegate@att.net. Little short tid-bits are needed for page fillers, as well.
John G. West, TSGS President
This blog was originally set-up for the Tri-State Genealogical Society. Under the new leadership, this blog and the original web site are no longer officially recognized by the society; however, it is continuing to be maintained by its creator, John G. West.

My Grandson, Evan, graduated in June this summer...
and his family was there to celebrate the day! L-R: JJ West, Halle West, Evan West (the Graduate) and Christie West.
I post this photo to remind all of our genealogy friends that for special events like Easter, Memorial day, 4th. of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. and graduations, weddings & even funerals are good times to be with your families and learn about the living family, as well as, the ones that have passed on in time. Get family addresses, phone numbers and email - so you can keep in touch. Send your family members a brief history of the family as it relates to them... then keep them posted as to any changes or additions. Sharing with them may mean that, later, they will share with you.

Becky is dressed in a Colonial dress for the Evansville Freedom Festival Parade several years back. A photography from the Courier & Press took this photo for the newspaper. Becky and another lady, Ruth Hall (barely visible) carried the Color Guard Banner for the Ohio Valley Chapter of the Indiana Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Don counts sent this musical video for us to remember why we celebrate this day! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huAMk7LlL5Q This is two versions of the same song sung by Marty Raybon... I like version 2 best!
