Draft Registration Cards -
WWI & WWII
These draft cards are a wealth of genealogical information! This card for WWII was signed by my Grandfather Long... it was filed out some time between the date of the form (01 Apr 1942) and his 62nd. birthday on 25 June 1942. He states that he is 61 years of age and that his date of birth is 25 June 1880 (place of birth is listed as Horse Cave, Kentucky). His address is listed in Evansville, Indiana. The card lists where he works and what the business does. It even lists the person's name and address that would always know his address. The individual is Myrtle Long at the same address as his. Not known if related... could be mother, wife, maiden sister, daughter, wife or other relationship. In this case it is his wife, my Grandmother Long.
