Marriage Records...
If you can't find the marriage of your western Kentucky ancestor in Kentucky, try Vanderburgh County, Indiana. Many young couples traveled to Evansville to tie the knot and returned home before friends and neighbors even knew they were married. The Vanderburgh County marriage records contain the names of many couples from the Kentucky counties of Henderson, Union, Webster and Hopkins.
If not found in Vanderburgh County marriage records, try Gallatin County, Illinois. Shawneetown was a popular place for couples from Kentucky and Indiana to marry. - Submitted by Brenda Joyce Jerome, CG
